I spotted the Dannijo Rocco Pyrite Ring online at Shopbop, and fell in love with the rough and tumble rockstar glam appeal. The muted metallic hue, less flashy and therefore more appealing to me, coupled with the naturally occurring crystal formations make it a statement piece worth investing in, no matter how much you got in your pockets these days.

However, these are all one-offs from Etsy sellers, Anastasia Rinaldi, Shop Clementine, and Alora Designs. So get them when you can!

Green your home literally, outside and inside with Wooly Pockets. These modular containers, come in various designs that look cousin to those canvas shoe racks you hand over the door. The website houses a tutorial, and a gallery of more style ideas for these nifty inventions. The idea of a green roof and living wall is beautiful and  eco-friendly {they keep your house cool during summers, they can detoxify the air}, and on top of that the products are made of recycled plastic bottles. Here’s to good karma!

Who wouldn’t want to know the story of the two of  you? Preferably in 500 words or less. This was designed by the groom Matt Dorfman.

This is how I usually dress now. Except maybe it’s a more upscale version of my outfits. The long flowy cardigan, the olive military style jacket, the motorcycle boots, the oversized bags and the rainboots (or as I love to call them: galoshes) are staples in my closet. I like to think that rainboots are a bit of trademark of mine. Though Los Angeles doesn’t give me much opportunity to bust them out.  My new thing is tights though, if you asked me two years ago to wear them, I would’ve been like, “yeah right.” You can got to my looklet page to check my other zanier creations, and totally go ahead and make your own.

Fall 2009

Monique Lhuillier best known for her beautiful wedding dresses to the rich and famous (e.g. Britney Spears), has some really nice pieces from her ready-to-wear Fall 2009 collection. The looks are still decadent but polished. My favorite thing about the whole lookbook is the sheer body suit that the dresses are layered with. I’m not sure if it’s a whole body stocking thing– but it adds a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to the dresses. It is a also a feat the dresses themselves make the whole ripped stocking thing look all classy and sophisticated. Polished yet not too polished, which I am all about…

The dresses themselves are pricey, but if you want to try the sheer layering thing, I suggest Free People’s version:

Interestingly enough, Chuvaness featured the Preview editor-in-chief sporting the same look (worn alone).

Kenneth Cobonpue makes lamps so sleek and modern out of decidedly ‘unmodern’ materials (rattan, bamboo, and palm leaf spines).  In fact the lines are so clean that they seem to come straight out of a storybook.

But my most favorite is the Biba below:

The fringe looks like leather no? But it’s rattan. Despite that, there’s something very decadent about them. Would love to see these lamps hanging from loft ceilings in multiples at different levels. Check the lamps out at HIVE. I think you have to get in touch with the designer for pricing and purchasing info.

One of my favorite daily reads, Oh Joy! is offering an amazing giveaway with Dwell Studio combining both home style and fashion. After hours of scouring the internets here are a couple of moodboards I came up with. The first one was the official entry, because I thought it wasn’t as obvious a choice  as the other, though I love them both equally. Which one do you like?

By the way,  the dress is from Matthew Williamson (the designer I can never afford du-jour) and the other dress is from Free People.
